Tasha West Baker

Union Representative

My Story:

Often times when I am in meetings at work, I will say something or make a point which will be dismissed or everyone pretended not to hear what I said. And then moment later a white person says the exact same thing I just said, and now it is gospel.

For two years, I have been asking for my job NOT to hold one of its biggest events on MLK day and it has totally fallen on deaf ears. Now all of sudden, because of all that is happening, my white colleagues have said: hey, maybe this looks bad on us as an organization, and now my union is ready to ask management to change the event date.
