President/CEO | Social Equity Advocate | Mother
My Story:
Imagine having served multiple governors, three US Presidents, and fortune 500 CEO's and not having "the answers."
This is akin to calling someone uppity.
As a black woman working in fields dominated by white men, this is a constant refrain. Be smart enough to get the role, "but don't appear to be as smart or smarter than you white superior." It makes them feel uncomfortable and less dominant.
Having worked hard to get into some of the best schools, while working my way through the corporate ranks, I refuse to dim my light to allow others to shine.
